1: So you want to be a Teddy/Raider?
  • Teddy Raider status can be given to all raiders that can abide by the raiding rules of ToD, you will be required to trial for a minimum of 4 weeks.
  • Teddy status can be given to casual raiders, casual players or anyone not quite up to the gear requirement as a Teddy Raider.

2: Before you apply
There is no application template for you to follow.
You are to think for yourselves and convince us why we should recruit you. (If you need some help please see the Application Hints and Tips section below
When you make an application to become a Teddy or Teddy Raider, you need to know the following:
  • There is a minimum age limit of 18 that we require, but as long as you can convey a mature attitude in your application, then your application will be reviewed for trial.
  • You have to be able to speak English properly, we are a mature guild and bad English won't help us keep this image.
  • Raid schedule. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. From 20:30-23:30
  • By applying to Teddybears of Doom you agree with guild's General Rules.

3: Application Process
The Recruitment Team will spend a considerable amount of time reading and verifying your application. Furthermore it will be our first impression of you as a person.
The more time you spend on your application and the the better you organize it, the faster will the team be able to process your application and the better an impression will we get of you, right from the start.

If those are terms and expectations you believe you can meet and if you are interested in joining ToD then start a new topic in this forum Apply here , and we will review your application asap.

4: Application Hints and Tips
Teddybears of Doom have put together a few hints and tips on what we expect when receiving an application to join our Guild. This of course is entirely your choice, but remember that we take applications very seriously.
  • Spelling, punctuation, capitalisation and grammar.
These factors testify on your ability to communicate in writing with your raid members, read and understand complex tactics etc. If you're dyslexic or not a native English speaker, ask a friend to edit your app, or simply mention it on the app itself. Words like ROFL and LOL do not belong in a serious application.
  • Don't write the entire thing in 12 seconds.
You want to show us why we should recruit you. Some answers, like your raiding history, clearly require more than 1 line. Again, your ability to express yourself is checked too.
  • Give us all the relevant information we need to know about you, but its up to you to decide what information is going to give you that edge over other applicants, and always remember your armory link, if we need to search for it, we wont.... we just will not accept you.
  • Don't apply unechanted/ungemmed.
Even green gear deserves socketing, with cheaper gems. Don't write on your app stuff like "I know my legs need enchants but I'm broke atm/working on it". Raiding is costly, if you cannot afford spending to better your character and chances to enter a raiding guild then how will you be able to pay for flasks, elixirs, potions, buffing reagents and repair costs?
  • No PVP gear and spec.
Don't apply with a spec that's only good for PVP. Though some classes benefit from PVP better than PVE gear, and there may be exceptions.
Even if you are guildless and you are mostly doing PVP, respecc PVE and put on your PVE gear before posting your application. It may be annoying for a few days, but you have to show your proper spec/gear. No one goes into an interview in shorts/sandals saying that "I usually dress in a suit when I work"
  • Have top skill in First Aid, This goes for all the classes.
You will need to bandage yourself sometimes. First aid is not that expensive to level, and can be even profitable.
Having 2 main professions at maximum level will also demonstrate dedication towards improving your character. If you have just dropped a profession and are low, explain why on your application.
  • Don't lie.
Lies can be easily discovered. If you say you raided AQ40 with this char pre-tbc, remember that we can check your reputation with brood of Nozdormu, and if you have 0/36,000 it means you never killed a single trash mob in there. Same goes for "In TBC, I raided Black Temple and I was just unlucky with loot" with 0 Ashtongue rep. Not having previous raiding experience from older expansions does not count against you, but be upfront and honest, we can always help where needed.
  • NEVER trash your previous guilds/communities.
If you trash them we may think that some day you will trash us. They have their side of the story too and servers are like small towns, we will most likely hear it
  • "I am a super good dpser!" "I'm a godly healer!"
Yeah. Sure you are. Just don't praise yourself arrogantly, people don't appreciate that. Let's rephrase this: "I read theory material and try hard to max my dps while not overaggroing".
  • Don't write a public application on another guild's website without telling your current guild.
When the truth comes out it will be embarrassing. If you are applying for more than one guild at a time, be honest, as it will be found out, to be seen to be hiding this does not bode well.
  • Remember that a good application should show the guild that:
    • You're a dedicated player who will try very hard to be good and to improve your performance.
    • You're gear is suitable for the content you wish to raid.
    • You're not a loot @*%%* who's just in it for the purples.
    • You can read and write and understand instructions.
  • Read the guild rules, loot system, raid times and expectations.
The worst thing you could do is apply to a guild looking for someone raiding 5 days a week while you only want 2 days a week. The reverse being true, don't waste your time applying to a guild raiding casually 2 days a week if you want to raid 5 days a week.
Make sure you are happy with their raid times, their loot system, etc before you apply!
  • During your trial Work hard.
Don't relax and make stupid mistakes it is your chance to impress. Also listen carefully and do what you are told. These guys want people who listen and will kick those who don't.

If you make past your trial, there's a few things to always remember:
  • Communication Etiquette.
If you see something that the current raid could improve on.
Talk with either raid leader or class leader and say you have a suggestion that might help the raid.
Don't say this is the correct way, better way or 'My last guild did it this way'
Instead make it clear it is your opinion and up to them if they want to try it. Most will.
  • Everyones Human.
If you do make a mistake don't make excuses, collapse in a heap thinking oh crap. Say sorry guys i made a mistake i will work hard not to do it again. Mistakes happen. Just don't repeat them.
  • Character Changes.
If you are being told that something needs to be changed with your character, your Hit needs to be higher or your spec needs some tweaking, make every possible effort to have this done by the next raid, if you feel they are incorrect, post your evidence to back up your reasons.

Last but not least: DO NOT APPLY TO A GUILD SOLELY BASED ON THEIR PROGRESS.

Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level, and beat you by experience.
